Success – Sort Of

Tuesday I had to leave my system with two of the four test panels upside down. I corrected that this morning and then went to hook up the breaker for the panels. It is not set up to be inserted inline it appears. Each solar line has a male end and a female end. This breaker has teo male ends so I can’t just insert it. I’ll investigate later to see what I can do.

Then I found that the black wire I ran had the wrong end at the panels. I pulled it back to the house, turned it around and also added another pull wire and the wire to ground the panels at the house.

With that all done, I cut the ends off these wires at the house and put them into the controller. I then connected the panels together and measured the voltage at the house. It is within the operating range of the controller but on the low side. That is because I only have half the panels connected.

After a coiple hours of monitoring I will have to adjust the angle to catch more sunlight. I calculated the angles and will need to change things from the 70 degrees they are at now to somewhere closer to 51 degrees. At least I am capturing some of that free electricity.
