I took my yellow Lab back to the Vet for a checkup for a growth and to have her bladder tumor reviewed.
The growth is a mammary tumor and is scheduled to be removed. The bladder tumor was, well how can I say this? It was not there,; at least the Vet could not see it. There could be a couple reasons why. It may have been a polyp or it could have been a real tumor that shrunk. She is on Peroxicam (a NSAID pian killer) that also has a side effect that can reduce some tumors.
In veterinary medicine, Piroxicam is most often prescribed to treat certain types of cancers, such as colon, prostate, and bladder cancer. It also can be used to treat arthritis pain, though other products generally are preferred for those purposes.
The exact mechanism by which Piroxicam combats mammary adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, TCC, and other cancers, isn’t completely understood, but its therapeutic success is well known.
Now I don’t care what happened, but I am happy with the results. She has an infection that is being treated with antibiotic and as I say, an operation to get though, but she is as active as ever so I am a “happy camper” (Note: I’m not actually camping during this virus outbreak 🙂
