Just Like Frasier on TV

Wathching a recent episode of the remake of Frasier, Frasier goes to a hockey game, which was far from being on his bucket list. When I was very young, Dad took me to a hockey game with the Canuks and some other team. I was very young so forgive me not remembering.

So about 20-some years ago a friend said he had tickets for us to see a hockey game there in Atlanta. I don’t remember agreeing because I am not much for team sports. Perhaps it was being chosen last on teams? I don’t know. I had been telling everyone that I wa impressed in individual athletes accomplishments. Anyway I grudgingly went. To say we were ‘down front’ was a misnomer. We were just behind the plexiglass, which would soon be be stained with sweat from both teams. Lucky for me, I would be able hide in the crowd way down front.

So the next work day I go into the office and a co-worker comes up and says “Hay I thought you hated team sports” to which I said that I do. Amazed that someone was there that I knew I asked where he was sitting. He replied “I was on the couch. I saw them do a closeup of you on the ‘Sports South’ TV network”. (SIGH) Done in my the media.

I HAVE been on televison a number of times. The old joke is that I was on the television but my Mom told me to get down so she could dust! Seriously, When I was in my military school uniform, Dad took me again to New York where we sat int he audience of GE College Bowl on NBC. So the cameras zoomed in on the audience members and as the show came on there was a closeup of me Because of my grey and black uniform) and the voicever as the camera pulled back was “Brought to you in living color” and I was the opening shot.

Years before, when my little Sister was, well little, we were in the audience of Washington DCs Bozo Show. Bozo was played by the man soon to become Ronald McDonald and later as NBCs weather man, Williad Scott. Behind tone of the Jim Hensen muppets.

I also participated in the background and foreground of two Public TV stations when they aired week long ‘TV Auctions’. I did a but of phone bank answers but also was one of the on-air auctioneers.

When I was being taught to be a ‘Weather Watcher’ I was seen in the class as we learned how t ospot tornados forming. It played on cable TV often on cable in the DC area.

I have appears on a local news show being asked about dengue fever here in Hawaii.

Besides the TV appearences, I also have been on the radio (and it was not just so Mom could dust!). Those are stories for another day.
