I’ve Seen The Light (Solar)
Recently I bit the bullet and invested in solar. Here in Hawaii solar is very popular as you can imagine. Although we have had our share of rain and clouds the past 3 weeks or so, the sun WILL come out tomorrow (or at least soon).
PLX is a company I have dealt with in the past, having joined their Kickstarter campaign for cellphone chargers. Now they offer the Legion solar panel system. These panels are light and easily set up by any homeowner. Their roof set up (should you want to place the panels there) does not involve drilling holes in the roof. The stringers attach to the fascia of the roof and come up and over the roof surface. Thus they are held on one end and the weight of the panels holds the other end. If you move, the panels come with you!
So I opted for 2KW worth of panels (20 one hundred watt panels) with the simple “Z” clips. I’ll leave the panels at ground level with 2×4’s as a frame. That way I can adjust the tilt angle as the season progresses. I guess I could just have some panels angled lower and some higher to average out the angle and leave them fixed. I dunno, I’ll test things.
Here is a link to their Kickstarter page where there is some info and videos (marketing and also an installation video).
