I also hooked up a link to Google Voice and that is working. If you call into my GoogleVoice telephone number which happens to be in Maryland, it forwards the call to another number (which is hardcoded to be in California) and the call is then convertsed into an Internet call which comes out to Hawaii into the extra computer I set up. The system will let me block calls, automatically direct people to different extensions based upon their calling phone number, or in the case of a certain telemarketer, placed on an unlimited hold with perhaps the GEICO ring tione playing over and over. You remember that ringtone don’t you? Rina-A-Ding-Ding-Dong…from the commercial?
Yesterday, I attended a going away party for a couple who have lived on the island for decades. To say they were coffee farmers is an understatement. Reluctantly, they are moving and we wish them well. because some of the attendees of the party were vegans, I thought long and hard what I would take and think I was quite creative.
I ended up driving all around town and stopped at COSTCO, 2 drug stores (Longs) and Sack-N-Save, a grocery store. WhaT I ended up making was greens with strawberries, minced honey roasted macadamia nuts, dried cranberries and a macadamia nut oil and vinegar dressing. Wiyth a little work, you too could create a salad like this and it will be well received. You might softwen the oil and vinegar a bit with some sugar, I used cane sugar (Sugar in the Raw) from maui.
In other news, in order to get paid on my contract with NRCS, I had to lay down driplines in areas I was not ready to plant. I’m sure it was show them that once they paid, I would not just take uninstalled tubing back to refund. Unfortunately, after placing the lines down, having them inspected and getting paid for them, I SHOULD have wound them back up. I left them on the ground and they were eventually ciovered with tall grass and brush. It was difficult to cut the grass growing oer them without damaging the lines. After finally getting them would up and out of the way, I mowed the whole area, cutting 8 foot grass down almost to ythe ground. Because of our recent drought, the grass was thankfully dean and easier to cut through. It will help make some nice soil I hope.
Lately we have been geeting reasonable amounts of rain and it looks as thought I need to get the gutters directed into the water tanks. That will fully complete the water system from sky to crops.
The new coffee trees are doing well, but need to have weeds removed from some of the trees.
I am toying with the idea of not fully planting the property with just coffee. I have received information about fruit trees which look interesting to grow. I have sufficient water for this type of alternative crop planting.
That’s it for now.
