Going To Town

I have watched quite a few westerns in my life and sometimes it feels as though I am in one. You know, how ‘going to town’ was such a big deal.

I called The Credit Union to make an appointment to have some documents notorized for the farm. I drove up there, got them all signed and stamped then had a decision to make. Head directly to town or drop of the documents? First, I could mail the documents via USPS but they go from any of the southern post offics along my travel area to Kailua-Kona where they go to the airport. They go on a late flight to Honolulu where they are sorted. Then because the office that needs the documents is right near where I drop them into the mail system, they come back to my island and are delivered the next day. The company will package my documents and send them by USPS to… Honolulu, so they get another flight to Oahu where they are delivered. So, I decided to drop them off locally myself to eliminate that crazy round trip flight before doing a one way back.

My next stop was Lowes where I looked at some ideas for the installation of my solar panels. Next was the trip to Walmart to get soda, solder for some wires and a few othe rthings. I meant to get slippers (you call them flip flops) but forgot to put them on the list. Then it was over to Safeway, a supermarket which also has a kiosk for paying your car registration and getting your license plate stickers. The guy ahead of me had issues either following the instructions or his credit card was not registering. In any event after he left it took me all of 2 minur=tes to scan my registration form, slide in my credit card and receive my new sticker. They advertise it as a 2 minute thing, but that is only after you actually stand in front of the machine. While at Safeway I looked t osee if there were any specials I wanted, but saw noe. I was then off to Home Depot to look at their selections of things I might need for the panels. I called my Sister about ladders I saw that were on sale and then headed to Costco.

A few months back I bought3 bottles of Cosequin for my yellow labrador. Unfortunately I had to put her down before I got to open the last bottle so I took that to the Return counter at Costco and got my $35 refunded. As I went through the warehouse I saw that there was a price reduction of the work bench I bought (the one mentioned a blog or two ago) that is holding my two solar batteries. Since it was less than 30 days since I bought it, I was able to get a refund of the difference, which I think was about $40. I saw a 2 pillow pack for pretty cheap and bought that. I hate to leave Costco empty-handed 🙂 I was going to buy a custard pie and some other things but did not have the cooler with me.

On my way out I got the hot dog special and gassed up the truck.

On the drive home I thought about those slippers but decided to skip a second trip to Walmart in one day.

I am just happy I don’t have to drive a buckboard into town.
