Elvis!

Some 20 years after the Kauai Coco Palms closed its doors and 50 years after the movie Blue Hawaii, Larry Rivera is still making memories. Larry was the featured musician at the resort when Elvis came and would sit in the audience.

During Hurricane Iniki on September 11, 1992, the resort on Kauai sustained terrible damage and has been closed ever since.

Although not a musician, I once worked with Larry at a private Holloween Party given by my friend Lampy at her house. I played a part in a skit he performed. Later I got two autographed CDs from him.

Although many people think I am “on stage” all the time, in reality I was scared I would flub my part. After all, it is not often you get to work with someone that Elvis has applauded!
