I had a great time today with a friend. We attended our credit unions’ annual dinenr celebrating 75 years of service!

The event was at the Fairmont Orchid Resort north of Kona. Although we missed the business meeting (having to feed the puppies and all), however we made it in time for the buffet lunch.

A retrospective was shown where a number of members were interviewed and spoke about teh credit union. I recognized a couple of the people, living on a close-knit island as I do.

During the meal there was a great band playing, then a drawing for door prizes and the after dinner music was by Grammy Nominated Henry Kapono. Henry just played for the Dalia Lama during his trip here.

By the way, when they offer an “all-you-can-eat” buffet, I hold them to their word. I made 3 trips to the buffet line and 2 to the desert line.

Menu Lunch Buffet – Caesar Salad, Waimea Tomato Onion Salad, Buckwheat Soba & Roasted Island Shiitake Salad with Sesame Soy Dressing, Kalbi Marinated Grilled Ribs Local Style, Huli Huli Chicken with Green Onions, Grilled Catch with Fruit Salsa, Portuguese Sausage Island Style Fried Rice, Ginger & Garlic Stir Fried Island Vegetables, Guava Cream Cheese Picnic Cake, Macadamia Nut Brownies, Fresh Brewed Ice Tea or Lemonade.
