A trip to town didn’t help and I ended up driving into Kona to go to Lowes. I got the parts and finished up the next day. Then yesterday I headed up tom the water company to show them my invoice for the pipe. This will allow me to get a reduced price for water because of the break.
Then it was off to Sandras to cut meat for the co-op. She also had another order for a special coffee roast so I also took my roaster with me.
This morning, I was reading a local forum entry and realized that I have not applied for a special property tax level and filled out the paperwork. Knowing that we have a tax office in Captain Cook, I headed there, only to get there at 12:05pm and saw a sign that they close for lunch between 12 and 1pm. Rather than wait an hour, I headed into Kona to the official office, getting to the new, giant county office building I saw it all but deserted. It seems we are still closing county and state offices on “furlough Friday”. SIGH!
I went to COSTCO and had a very strange thing happen. All the urinals were in use and two of the touilet doors are closed. There is a guy standing aginst the wall awaiting a urinal. The handicap stall door is open and I head for that. As I pass the guy standing there, I notice a shopping cart with a small girl in it. I assume she is with the man standing there. As I get close to the open stall door I see a large local guy, standing there with his pants down. I now assume that the child may have been his and he kept the door open to ensure her safety.
In any event, while I am starting to turn away from the stall and await a urinal, the guy in the stall starts a string of profanities. Either he is crazy, or he has Touretts. I did not stick around to figure it out and decided I did not need to go quite as badly as I thought!
I do some shopping and head to Safeway for a few morre items. There I find many of my favorite frozen foods on sale and I stock up. On my way home I remember that recently I bought 80 pounds of chicken for the dogs and that has pretty much taken over the free space I have in the freezers. I also bought a couple of frozed pies that were very reasonbly priced. Out here, handmade pies and breads can be very expensive.
I got home with little time to get the tractor out and cut weeds I am very far behind with that project. Of course I have many other projects. My truck brakes need looking at, the stairs to the house and starting to rot through (due to a bad design of the overhang of the roof).
Still, I found time to blog a bit
