I have my two dogs, Koa and O`Lena and two of the black female pups from the litter. I have two families wanting one of the two girls and I expect that the second family will take the remaining girl, thus ending my first litter experience. It is interesting to note that the chocolate and yellow Labs go before the black ones, even though there is no difference but their color. Still, the blacks had to be reduce in price to ensure they sell.
I have to call the two families, but they both wanted current photos of the pups, which is next to impossible without someone to hold them for their photos.
Next in the queue is to pick coffee. I have been trying to get to it for days and some is drying on the vine. As soon as I pick some, I have to have a water bath ready to soak the cherry. Then within hours I need to start pulping them, then another soak and they must be dried. I have to fashion a drying area because I don’t have a permanent one yet. The best choice would be a wooden deck with a slight slope for drainage and a roof over top to keep the rain off. Then I can store the dry parchment until it needs to be milled and roasted.
Except for the milling, I can do all the other processes here, however it is a lot of work. In coming years perhaps I can afford to hire help.
It will be nice to have some new coffee crop to sell and each year I should have more available.
I am seeing more fruit coming this year. Still lots of lemons appearing and a few varieties of tangerines. I also am seeing calamansi limes (but they are quite small). I have a “boatload” of figs and am seeing other fruits starting. No sapadilas or sapotes yet.
I have to build a nursery to grow more coffee trees and there is a ton of weeding that has had to wait until this coffee gets picked.
And to think, I’m SUPPOSED to be retired!
