During the power problems I had two computers and a microwave go out. One computer was covered under an in-home repair, the second was fixed by me opening the power supply and replacing a fuse. This power supply did not have a fuse holder, so it was off to Radio Shack for some solder. The microwave was replaced and I may try to fix the old one.
Speaking of cellphones, I hear that many people are having problems with the new “Gingerbread” operating system. I am being prompted every few hours to upgrade and I keep saying “no thanks” for now. There is no easy way to back it out and people have had to take their phones to the Verizon store to get reconditioned ones. Not a very good outlook for now. Thus, I wait.
Most of the puppies from the 4 litters are gone. If you have been following, there are now 5 poodles from one litter, 2 Labs from another litter and 1 lab from the first litter. That last pup, the oldest of the bunch, is soooo cute. I wish I could take her home but it appears I already have 2 Labs and they can be a handful! The pup is actually a half-sibling of my male, having the same mother but a different father.
I hope to move my two dogs back t othe farm in a couple days. They have been staying up in town while I helped with all the pups.
I did some trim today hoping to get closer to having the house interior finally painted. It took forever t otry to open the paint can (it’s been that long since I painted last). Now it’s off to Ace Hardware to get an empty paint can and top.
A friend called with a computer problem. All of the sites she visited had invalid or expired certificates. The fix was easy in this case; check to make sure that your computer has the correct time and date. If you set it and then find after turning it off and on that the date is wrong again, then it is time to change the BIOS battery inside. That is a relatively cheap project and might be done even by a neophyte.
Although I am having a frozen fried chicken dinner for lunch, I remember well that while I was in private school, fried chicken was a staple on many Sunday afternoons. The meals were nutritious and plentiful, I can’t say that I remember many of them. I do remember breakfasts with a big metal pitcher of milk and juice, lots of bacon, biscuits with jam, butter or apple butter, scrambled eggs, boxes of cereal, potatoes and grits. Sometimes the grits were served with hominy a type of corn product. Oh and there was coffee, but not like I drink now! So here is to a power breakfast sure to get you going in the morning. We certainly excersied those fat and calories off.
