15 Minutes of Fame

I have been on radio and TV, interviewed NASA people, even had my sunset photo shown on the local TV station over on Oahu.

Recently, Google sent me a coupon for $100 worth of free ads and I designed both a text ad and some animated graphic ads. The text ads ran thfor a day or two and I have switched over to the graphics now. They are various sizes and shapes and in most cases, I used Google templates. Oe ad I designed just has a bag of coffee beans on it, kinda a mystery image to see if people will click to see what it is. The others are animated ads with a moving shopping cart and a button to click. The text varies some and I will see how they do.

The way I have chosen the keywords and so on, if someone clicks through the ad to my website, it costs me something like $1.65. If they buy something, great, otherwise, it is just part of advertising. You try things and stick with things that work and change the things that don’t. If you have a shopping site or even a brick and mortor store, you should know where your business comes from. That way you can keep doing what brings in people and money.

Some of the ads are automatically placed by Google, but I also chose two sites to force my ads to appear. Those sites are ones I spend time on, Woot.Com and Flyertalk.Com.

I don’t know if they will generate much business, but since the whole deal cost me $5 total, I will let the campaign run its course.
